Suman Sapkota

Chair Person, Executive Committee

Suman Sapkota is a distinguished public health professional with extensive expertise in epidemiology and health statistics. He holds a Master’s degree from Capital Medical University in Beijing and a Bachelor’s degree from Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu. Suman has led several health research projects that have significantly contributed to promoting evidence-based programs and policies in Nepal.

He excels in designing and implementing complex studies, conducting rigorous data analysis, and developing impactful health interventions. His work has been instrumental in shaping health policies and enhancing community health services. As the chairperson of PSD-Nepal, Suman continues to drive efforts to create sustainable and evidence-based health solutions and improve the well-being of communities across Nepal.

Chandra Kumari Malla

Vice Chair

Chandra Kumari Malla is a Nepali health care professional with extensive experience in nutrition, health education, community medicine, and public health awareness. She holds an MA in Home Science and Nutrition and a B.Ed. in Health Education, both from Tribhuvan University. Additionally, she has acted as the Vice / Acting -Chairperson of PSD Nepal for a long time and serves as the Treasurer for Global Health Alliances Nepal (GHAN).Chandra’s professional career spans various roles, starting as a Field Trainer at the Social Development & Promotion Center, where she conducted emergency nutrition training and supported OTP centers. She also served as a Program Assistant at PSD Nepal, coordinating nutrition awareness programs. With extensive volunteer experience and participation in numerous professional training programs, including nutrition interventions, maternal and child nutrition, and HIV/AIDS management, Chandra has established herself as a dedicated advocate in the field of public health.

Rojina Basnet

Secretary, Executive Board

Rojina Basnet is a Research Officer at the Nepal Health Research Council with a strong academic background in public health, nutrition, child development, and sociology. She holds multiple master’s degrees, including a gold medal in Public Health Nutrition from Tribhuvan University. Rojina has significant professional experience, including her current role as a Public Health Nutrition Faculty member at the Central Department of Public Health, IOM. Her responsibilities have included facilitating nutrition-related subjects, coordinating research projects, and ensuring ethical standards in health research. Rojina has been involved in numerous national and international projects, authored several publications, and completed various training and e-courses. Her work has focused on nutrition and health, gender studies, and child health. She is recognized for her energetic, creative, and diligent approach to addressing public health challenges.

Roshani Poudel

Joint Secretary Executive Board

Roshani Poudel is a distinguished graduate in Public Health, specializing in Health Promotion and Education. She is dedicated to a career encompassing health promotion, education, research, training, and evaluation. Currently a Public Health Faculty member at the Central Department of Public Health, Institute of Medicine (IOM), she coordinates Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) classes and teaches health promotion and education. Roshani has also lectured part-time at multiple colleges and served as a Health Education Administrator. Her academic achievements include a Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Education from Tribhuwan University and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from the Nepal Institute of Health Sciences. She has consulted for organizations such as MIRA, PSI, and UNICEF, and supervised research at SOLID Nepal. Roshani’s research focuses on maternal health behaviors, oral hygiene among students, and women’s health rights in Nepal, reflecting her commitment to improving public health outcomes.

Bijaya gharti

Bijay Gharti is an energetic and dynamic young leader with a degree in Management, specializing in accounting and financial management. He is renowned for his innovative ideas and strong vision for enhancing organizational financial management. Bijay has extensive expertise in financial planning and analysis, budget management, and strategic financial decision-making. His professional highlights include introducing innovative financial management strategies within organizations, showcasing his ability to drive financial efficiency and growth.

Binod Kumar Aryal

Executive Director

Binod Kumar Aryal, an accomplished public health professional, currently serves as Assistant Professor (Public Health) at Yeti Health Science Academy, affiliated with Purbanchal University in Kathmandu, Nepal. With a career spanning roles such as Health Officer at the Ministry of Health and Population, Senior Program Manager at Global Health Alliance Nepal, and Outbreak Health Educator for the World Health Organization, Aryal has made significant contributions to public health. His expertise as an epidemiologist in the Ministry of Health and Population’s Avian Influenza Control Project highlights his crucial role in managing public health emergencies. Aryal is recognized for his leadership in designing, managing, implementing, and evaluating public health and nutrition projects, particularly during emergencies. He holds a Master’s in Health Promotion Education (MHPE) from Tribhuvan University and a Master’s in Public Health (MPH) from the State University of Bangladesh. Aryal has authored numerous scientific papers on non-communicable diseases, malnutrition, and educational interventions, providing valuable insights to the field. His research spans maternal and child nutrition, healthcare professional projections, and public health guidelines, influencing policies and practices in Nepal. Aryal’s dedication and expertise have significantly advanced public health education and emergency response strategies in the region.
